Workshop: What is Christian Discipline?

Christian Discipline is radical and counterintuitive. God’s Word does not provide a parenting method- even though for decades culture has tried to turn a couple verses in Proverbs into one. The “tools” many Christians have relied on for so long actually do not have the power to deliver our children from sin, or to create heart change. So what can we do? Lots! Join me for the foundational workshop on Christian Discipline!

Your children need God’s law, but you cannot ask the law to do what only grace can accomplish.

Platform: Zoom. Please plan to have your camera on and be ready to participate in activities and discussions.

This event is for adults only. Please make childcare arrangements for babies and children.

Some Topics Covered:

The book of Proverbs and the infamous rod verses. We’ll also carefully consider the parenting verses in the New Testament: there’s only two.
How to teach and develop strong character traits (patience, resilience, honesty, etc.) in our children.
Parenting tools that help children develop internal control, instead of relying on external controls (blame, shame, pain) that don’t actually produce better behaviors in our children.
Effective relationship and communication skills that model behavior that we want to see our children use.
Why punishment and rewards don’t work and what to do instead.

Come ready to share behavior problems you are experiencing right now & leave with some effective discipline strategies that are respectful & encouraging.
