A must read for parents interested in Montessori education. I wish this book existed when I first discovered our local Montessori school. Written by a Montessori teacher, Davies combines Dr. Maria Montessori’s holistic approach to education with her personal experience to create the manual for anyone living with toddlers. She also pulls in gems from my favorite parenting books such as Positive Discipline, Whole-Brain Child, No Bad Kids. She provides practical ideas for setting limits and curating Montessori spaces- and activities. Plus, the book itself is a work of art capturing the values of a real Montessori classroom: clean, airy, purposeful and beautiful.
Our tone of voice is a way to show our toddlers that we respect them. A whiny voice, an insecure voice, a strict voice, or a threatening tone can distort the best of intentions and does not show our child we value them and want to work with them.
